LAB-GROWN DIAMONDS

Created by science. Defined by brilliance.

Diamonds have long symbolised love, celebration and enduring beauty. Today, the way they are created is evolving. Lab-grown diamonds bring together the timeless beauty of a diamond with a modern approach to fine jewellery.

At True Brilliance, we work exclusively with lab-grown diamonds, combining modern innovation with generations of jewellery expertise and craftsmanship to create pieces of exceptional quality, designed to be treasured for a lifetime.

What Is a Lab Grown Diamond?

Lab-grown diamonds are cultivated in carefully controlled laboratory environments using advanced technology that recreates the conditions in which diamonds form naturally. Like natural diamonds, they are made from carbon, which crystallises into the distinctive structure that gives a diamond its exceptional strength and beauty.

The result is a real diamond with the same brilliance, beauty and durability as a natural diamond — simply created above ground rather than beneath it.

Real Diamonds. Simply Created Differently.

Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds, not diamond simulants or imitations. Chemically, physically and optically, they are identical to natural diamonds, sharing the same crystal structure, hardness, brilliance and durability.

To the naked eye, they are indistinguishable from natural diamonds. Determining their origin requires specialist gemmological equipment and expertise.

“Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds. They have the same optical, chemical, thermal and physical features.”

Matthew Hall
Director, Gemological Institute of America (GIA)

The Science behind Lab Grown Diamonds

Understanding lab-grown diamonds begins with understanding how natural diamonds form. Deep within the Earth, carbon is exposed to immense heat and pressure over billions of years, allowing a diamond crystal to develop before volcanic activity brings it closer to the Earth's surface.

Lab-grown diamonds begin with the same fundamental element: carbon. Using advanced technology and a diamond seed, the conditions required for diamond growth are replicated within a carefully controlled environment. Instead of billions of years, the process takes just a matter of weeks.

Two principal methods are used to create lab-grown diamonds: High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) and Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD). HPHT uses intense heat and pressure to encourage carbon to crystallise around a diamond seed, while CVD introduces a carbon-rich gas into a controlled chamber, allowing carbon atoms to build gradually upon the seed, layer by layer.

While the processes differ, both produce a real diamond with the same fundamental structure and properties as one formed naturally.

HOW THEY COMPARE

LAB-GROWN VS NATURAL DIAMONDS

The only meaningful difference between a lab-grown and natural diamond is how it is formed. The comparison below highlights their defining characteristics side by side, showing just how closely they align.

Why Lab Grown

A MODERN APPROACH TO FINE JEWELLERY

Choosing a diamond is about more than how it was formed. Lab-grown diamonds combine exceptional beauty and quality with greater choice, offering a modern approach to fine jewellery without compromising on the qualities that make a diamond extraordinary.

IDENTICAL IN EVERY WAY

Choosing a lab-grown diamond does not mean compromising on quality. With the same brilliance, durability and crystal structure as a natural diamond, it offers the same exceptional beauty and longevity.

The difference lies in its origin — simply created in a different way.

EXCEPTIONAL VALUE

Lab-grown diamonds offer exceptional value, allowing you to choose a larger or higher-quality diamond within the same budget, without compromising on beauty, brilliance or craftsmanship.

Created in controlled laboratory environments rather than formed over billions of years and recovered through traditional mining, they offer a more direct route to market. This makes exceptional diamond quality more attainable, giving you greater freedom to prioritise what matters most to you.

A MORE CONSIDERED ORIGIN

Lab-grown diamonds offer a more considered approach to fine jewellery. Created above ground in carefully controlled laboratory environments, they avoid the land disruption associated with traditional diamond mining while offering greater transparency around their origin.

For those who value knowing where their diamond comes from, they offer a modern approach to fine jewellery — combining exceptional beauty and quality with a more considered provenance.

IGI certified

Independently Certified

Every True Brilliance diamond is independently graded and certified by the International Gemological Institute (IGI), one of the world's leading independent gemmological laboratories.

Each certificate documents your diamond's individual characteristics, including its cut, colour, clarity and carat weight, providing an independent assessment of its quality and confirming its lab-grown origin.

Issued independently of True Brilliance, your IGI certificate gives you confidence that your diamond has been professionally assessed and accurately graded.
